A wise man once said
No plan survives first contact with the enemy or the visa centre in Warsaw it would seem
Expecting the families and my colleague back from Warsaw around 6 pm - there's been a mistake with one of the visas - a typo basically but it can't be fixed at the visa centre - it needs to go back to the Embassy - this means a trip back to Warsaw tomorrow - 3 or 4 hours round trip depending on traffic.
I had a walk around the town and had dinner on my own - lovely meal - about £8 for a main course and a couple of beers
Went to bed and tried to sleep but couldn't. They didn't get back until just after 10 pm - 3 of them and me needed to get on the road again at 0330 to get to Krakow Airport for a 0730 flight to the UK
A very quick few quick introductions, I gave them their pre printed boarding passes and we all turned in
What a waste of time - couldn't sleep - ended up getting up at just after 2 am - got the bus ready to go. We left on time - thank goodness for Google Maps - very dark and with the motorway still being completed we had a tour of a few random villages outside Krakow. Helpful taxi driver showed us where to park the van - Ryanair lady was extremely helpful and the cases were checked in. A grandmother, mother and daughter travelled to the UK with less luggage than we usually take to Turkey for a fortnight on our summer holidays - sobering to say the least.
They were so grateful for my efforts - I just drove the van.
Journey home was uneventful - same route but much more to see in daylight. Called home and then had a shower and finally got a proper chat with David over some breakfast. Discussed the day's plan - he's going to Warsaw - I'll stay here so that there's someone with the other family.
Tried to sleep - nae chance! Got up and went for a walk - went to the local football stadium. Came back - still can't sleep so writing this
Off to Warsaw in the morning to drop people off for more flights and collect a family - including their cat and dog who are going to be on the bus on the long trip to Calais.
